The Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the movement, Kwankwaso is expected to complete his registration with the ADC at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, at 12 noon.
The development marks a major political shift and has triggered widespread reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, which commands strong support in Kano State and beyond.

The movement directed its members nationwide to immediately register with the ADC at their respective wards, local government areas, and state chapters, signaling a coordinated realignment ahead of future elections.

Speaking on the decision, the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the move was driven by a commitment to strengthening democratic values and promoting inclusive governance.
He said the decision reflects the collective aspiration of supporters who believe in deepening democratic participation and ensuring leadership that represents the people’s interests.

Dr. Mohammed also urged members to actively engage in all party activities, stressing that the transition was aimed at building a stronger political platform for the movement’s ideals.
He described the move as a new phase in the group’s political journey, reaffirming its unity and determination to pursue what he called better governance and national development.
The announcement is expected to reshape political alignments ahead of upcoming elections, with analysts closely watching the implications of Kwankwaso’s entry into the ADC and its potential impact on Nigeria’s broader political landscape.
