Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared that the state will not succumb to fear or intimidation following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, which claimed 28 lives.
In a statewide broadcast, Mutfwang expressed his commitment to unity and peace, stating that the state will emerge stronger and more resolute in the face of adversity.
The governor described the attack as senseless, noting that the victims were law-abiding citizens caught off guard.
He assured residents that decisive steps have been taken to restore calm, including the mobilization of security agencies and the imposition of a 48-hour curfew in Jos North.
A suspect has been arrested, and Mutfwang vowed that all those behind the attack will face the law.
Mutfwang also announced that the state government will take full responsibility for the medical expenses of the injured and provide support to the families of the deceased, including dignified burials and assistance for dependents.
He commended residents for maintaining peace and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements.
