The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is calling for the immediate resignation of Joash Amupitan, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing a loss of trust in the electoral body.

The party’s national chairman, David Mark, made the demand during a press briefing, describing INEC’s actions as unlawful.

The controversy surrounds INEC’s decision to derecognize the ADC’s leadership, including Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, citing a court order.

The ADC argues that INEC has taken sides with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and can no longer be trusted to conduct fair elections.
