Italy’s Eni has made a significant gas and condensate discovery offshore Egypt, with preliminary estimates indicating 2 trillion cubic feet of gas and 130 million barrels of associated condensates.

The Denise W-1 exploration well is located in the Temsah Concession, around 70 km offshore in the Eastern Mediterranean, and less than 10 km from existing infrastructure, allowing for fast-track development.

This discovery will support Egypt’s goal of boosting gas reserves and increasing production, as the country has seen a decline in local gas production in recent years.

Eni operates the Denise Development Lease with a 50% working interest alongside BP, with operations conducted through Petrobel, Eni’s joint venture with Egypt’s state-owned oil company EGPC.
