A new terrorist group, Mamudawa, has emerged in Kebbi State, attacking communities in the Shanga Local Government Area and killing at least four persons.
The attacks, which occurred on Sunday and Monday, targeted several communities in the Gebbe District, leaving destruction and forcing residents to flee.
The assailants, reportedly from Wawa Forest in Niger State’s Borgu Local Government Area, set multiple buildings ablaze in Kalkami, Tungar Bori, and Kawara communities.
Kawara village was completely razed on Monday, with many residents displaced and seeking refuge in Gungu or nearby forests.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the attacks, stating that the Mamudawa group took advantage of the wetland terrain to carry out the assaults.
This incident follows recent attacks by Lakurawa terrorists in the same area, which killed 12 soldiers and a mobile police officer.
In a separate incident, suspected bandits abducted six persons in Sokoto State’s Isa Local Government Area, threatening daily attacks unless residents seek amnesty.
