The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended the chairmen of Kaura Namoda and Bukkuyum local government areas, Mannir Haidara and Umar A. Faru, respectively, over allegations of financial misappropriation and failure to account for public funds.

The suspension followed a report by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, which indicted the officials for refusing to cooperate with legislative oversight.

The Assembly accused Haidara and Faru of showing contempt for legislative authority and operating without transparency in managing council funds.

The suspended chairmen have been ordered to hand over to their vice chairmen pending the outcome of the probe.

The move is aimed at enforcing accountability and curbing abuse in local government administration.
