Ghana’s government plans to remove some fuel taxes and charges to ease the burden on consumers as global oil prices surge due to the Middle East conflict.
The measures, set to take effect within a week, aim to cushion consumers from rising pump prices, which have increased by 15% for petrol and 19% for diesel.
The government will consult stakeholders to determine the specific levies to be scrapped, with the suspension lasting an initial four weeks.
The transport minister has also been instructed to deploy Metro Mass buses along high-traffic corridors with lower fares to ease the burden on commuters.
