The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Jos branch, has suspended its strike action following the payment of March 2026 salaries to its members.
The decision comes just two days after the union directed lecturers to withdraw their services over delays in salary payments and the non-payment of the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA).
In a statement issued by the branch chairperson, Jurbe Molwus, the union disclosed that approval for the salary payment was received shortly after the strike commenced on April 8.

ASUU confirmed that most of its members had received their salaries, prompting the suspension of the industrial action and a directive for lecturers to resume academic activities immediately.
Despite calling off the strike, the union expressed concern over the continued exclusion of the Earned Academic Allowance from the payment, describing it as a critical component of its demands.
ASUU urged the Federal Government to urgently release funds to fully implement the 2025 agreement reached with the union, stressing that this is necessary to ensure lasting industrial harmony.
The union also warned that failure to address the outstanding issues, particularly the unpaid allowances, could trigger another round of strike action if not resolved in the coming weeks.
