Yobe state police spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, stating that security agencies are yet to provide official casualty figures.

While residents attributed the strike to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), this has not been confirmed.

Emergency response efforts are underway, with injured victims receiving treatment at hospitals in Giedam and Damaturu.

The market, situated on the Borno-Yobe border, was reportedly bustling with activity when the strike occurred.

The incident has sparked concern, with many calling for investigations into the circumstances surrounding the air strike.

As the situation unfolds, security agencies are working to assess the damage and provide updates.
