In a significant move to bolster economic relations, Mohammed Al-Hweij, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, met with Hamad Al-Shahri, the Acting Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Libya, in Cairo on Wednesday.

The high-level meeting focused on enhancing commercial maritime routes between Libyan and Saudi ports, aiming to boost bilateral trade.

The discussions were attended by key officials, including the Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations from Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade, as well as commercial attachés from the Libyan and Saudi embassies in Cairo.

This convergence of officials underscored the importance both nations place on strengthening their economic ties.

Central to the talks were plans for the forthcoming Libyan-Saudi Investment Forum and an accompanying exhibition of Saudi products in Tripoli, scheduled for later this year.

These events are designed to promote interaction and collaboration among chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs from both countries, potentially paving the way for new business ventures and partnerships.

In addition, Minister Al-Hweij received an official invitation from his Saudi counterpart to lead an economic and trade delegation from the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.

This visit is expected to facilitate detailed discussions with Saudi officials, further enhancing commercial and investment relationships between Libya and Saudi Arabia.
