Cameroon and Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has opened up about his turbulent start at Old Trafford, revealing that it took him six months “to feel good” after joining the club.

Onana signed for £47.2m from Inter Milan in July said he faced challenges, including a difficult debut and errors contributing to the club’s struggles in the Premier League and Champions League group stage. Onana admitted to feeling the pressure of high expectations upon his arrival but emphasized the importance of resilience and perseverance in football. Drawing inspiration from teammate, Marcus Rashford’s ups and downs, Onana highlighted the unpredictability of the sport and the need for players to stay focused and determined.

Despite facing criticism and scrutiny, Onana’s performances gradually improved, and he is now regarded as one of the more reliable members of manager Erik ten Hag’s squad. The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who leads the league in saves, remains optimistic about United’s future and believes in the team’s ability to overcome challenges.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, Onana acknowledged the tough task at hand but expressed confidence in his teammates and manager. He emphasized the importance of resilience and determination in facing adversity, echoing the club’s ethos of striving for success despite setbacks.

As United prepares to take on City in the final, Onana remains focused on the task at hand, determined to make a positive impact and contribute to the team’s success.
