Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, explained that this decision was necessary to address critical maintenance issues that could affect the safety and longevity of the bridge.

“We recognize the inconvenience this may cause to motorists and the general public, but these repairs are crucial to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the bridge,” Kesha stated.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of alternative routes to avoid delays.

The Ministry has provided a list of suggested detours and is coordinating with traffic management authorities to minimize disruptions.

Despite the anticipated inconvenience, the Ministry reassures the public that these measures are essential for maintaining the high standards of safety and reliability of one of Lagos’s most vital infrastructure assets.
