In a concerted effort to mitigate the soaring temperatures anticipated during this year’s Hajj, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has spearheaded an innovative tree planting initiative.
The Chairman and CEO of NAHCON, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi OON, fwc, was represented by Dr. Aliyu Tanko, the Makkah Coordinator, at the event.
This initiative, designed to provide a cooler and more comfortable environment for pilgrims, was conducted under the auspices of the Pioneers Cooperative Agricultural Society.

The theme of the initiative, “Let Us Plant It,” underscores the collective responsibility towards environmental conservation and enhancement.

The ambitious project aims to plant twenty trees and two thousand flowers strategically at the intersection of the main entrance to the Muna Holy Site and Muzdalifah Way, coming from Makkah City.

This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Makkah Municipality and various stakeholders committed to improving the Hajj experience.
By introducing greenery to the area, NAHCON hopes to create shaded spaces that will offer relief from the intense heat, thereby enhancing the overall comfort and wellbeing of the pilgrims.
This environmental stewardship aligns with broader goals of sustainability and community welfare, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing climate challenges.
