Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command, have apprehended a 31-year-old man, Yusuf Adenoyin, in Isua Akoko, Akoko South-East local government area, with eight human skulls in his possession.

Adenoyin confessed that he was attempting to raise N2 million to pay for his sick mother’s hospital treatment. Initially involved in the palm oil business, he turned to selling human skulls after discovering the lucrative nature of the trade.

During his parade at the State Police headquarters, Adenoyin explained that economic hardship led him to this illicit activity.

Desperate to save his mother, he connected with an herbalist via social media who introduced him to the distribution of human skulls.

He sourced these skulls from a supplier who exhumed them from graveyards, purchasing each for N20,000 and reselling them for between N30,000 and N35,000 in Osun State.

Adenoyin was arrested while travelling to Osogbo, Osun State’s capital.

The police intercepted him at the Isua/Epinmi checkpoint, where he fled upon the vehicle’s stoppage. The police chased and captured him, finding eight dry human skulls hidden in a sack filled with garri during a search of his baggage.

This was Adenoyin’s third attempt to supply skulls to his clients. The state Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipupo, assured that Adenoyin would face charges following the completion of the investigation.
