In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Lagos was once again brought to a standstill as heavy downpour wreaked havoc on the city’s infrastructure.

The rain, which has been falling incessantly for the past week, led to severe flooding, causing chaos for commuters and residents.

As the rain poured down, streets quickly turned into rivers, making roads impassable. From Alapere to the Third Mainland Bridge and stretching all the way to Adeniji Adele, traffic congestion reached unprecedented levels.

Vehicles were stuck in gridlock, and many commuters were left with no choice but to abandon their cars and trek through the flooded streets.

Clad in raincoats and holding umbrellas, scores of people waded through knee-deep water, navigating their way through the chaotic urban landscape.

The incessant downpour over the past week has raised concerns about Lagos’s drainage system and its ability to cope with extreme weather events. Environmental experts have warned that without significant improvements to the city’s infrastructure, such incidents are likely to become more frequent and severe.
