Former South African Parliament Speaker to Stand Trial for Corruption and Money Laundering

The former speaker of South Africa’s parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula returned to court on Tuesday to face charges of corruption and money laundering.

At the Magistrate’s Court, She was informed that her case would be transferred to the High Court in Pretoria for trial. This development indicates that the prosecution believes it has a strong case against her. The trial is set to begin on October 16th, 2024.
