The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has called on Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to ensure security for protestors during the upcoming nationwide rally in August.
In response to the nation’s worsening economic crisis, young Nigerians have vowed to protest, and the “End Bad Governance” demonstration is gaining momentum on social media. The protest is scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 10.

Despite government authorities urging organizers to cancel the demonstrations, citing political motivations, the TUC insists on the need for protection.
Festus Osifo, president of the TUC, addressed reporters on Thursday in Abuja, emphasizing that the Police Act and the constitution mandate the police to provide adequate security for demonstrators. Osifo highlighted the importance of sufficient security measures to prevent thugs from hijacking the protest.
