Reigning Nigerian Premier Football League champions, Enugu Rangers progressed to the second round of the CAF Champions League after a tense 1-1 draw against US Zilimadjou of Comoros at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, securing a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Entering the match with a slim 1-0 lead from the first leg, Rangers were expected to dominate at home. However, Zilimadjou proved to be a formidable opponent, frustrating the Nigerian side throughout the game. Despite dominating possession, Rangers struggled to penetrate the resilient Comorian defense.

The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute when Kenechukwu Agu calmly converted a penalty, giving Rangers a crucial lead. But the drama was far from over, as Zilimadjou equalized five minutes from time, setting up a nerve-wracking finish.

With the aggregate score at 2-1 in favor of Rangers, the visitors pressed hard for a second goal to force extra time. However, Rangers’ defense held firm, ensuring their advancement in the competition and keeping Nigerian hopes alive in the CAF Champions League as they continue their pursuit of continental glory.
