The London Metropolitan Police is currently investigating a new case linked to former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who was sentenced to 10 years in a British prison for human trafficking in 2023.

This revelation is part of the explosive documentary series “Daniel vs Ekweremadu,” produced by Chude Jideonwo Presents.

The first part of the two-part docu-series, released on Friday, August 23rd delves into the dramatic downfall of Ekweremadu, tracing his journey from Nigerian political prominence to his conviction under the UK’s Modern Slavery Law. The series, written and directed by award-winning filmmaker and TV host, Chude Jideonwo, sheds light on the ongoing legal implications surrounding the case.

In the documentary, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, Alexandra Meek, disclosed in an email to the producers that detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Unit arrested a woman in her 50s on November 8th, 2022, on suspicion of conspiracy to exploit for organ harvesting. The woman has been released under investigation, with inquiries still ongoing. Ms. Meek, who serves as a senior communication manager for the Met Police, cited this active investigation as the reason the police could not participate in the documentary at this time.

The documentary’s title, “Daniel vs Ekweremadu,” refers to “Daniel,” a pseudonym used by the filmmakers for the victim-survivor involved in Ekweremadu’s case. This name was adopted following a directive from the judge to keep the real identity of the survivor confidential. Ekweremadu’s conviction marked the first sentencing under the UK’s Modern Slavery Law, where he, along with his wife Beatrice and a doctor, Obinna Obeta, was found guilty of organ harvesting.

Shot across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, the series provides exclusive access to British prosecutors, police, and the survivor’s family, offering a unique, thriller-style perspective from a West African independent studio. The two-part series is available exclusively on the streaming platform withChude.com, produced by the factual film and series studio, Chude Jideonwo Presents.
