Nigeria and Leicester City Midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi scored his first goal of the season as Leicester City secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Ghanaian Forward, Jordan Ayew, a summer signing for the Foxes from Crystal Palace, also found the net and provided the assist for Ndidi’s goal. In another Carabao Cup match, Nigerian Midfielder, Alex Iwobi played for Fulham as they secured a 2-0 win against Birmingham. However, Iwobi’s Nigerian teammate, Calvin Bassey, remained on the bench as an unused substitute.

Other notable results from the round included Crystal Palace’s 4-0 thrashing of Norwich City, with Eberechi Eze getting on the scoresheet. Watford defeated Plymouth 2-0, QPR won on penalties against Luton after a 1-1 draw, Everton beat Doncaster 3-0, and Stoke City hammered Middlesbrough 5-0.

Ndidi, along with Iwobi and Bassey, has been called up for Nigeria’s upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The trio are part of the 23-man squad announced on Tuesday for the double-header fixtures.
