Nigeria Women’s Basketball Team, DTigress has moved up four places to the Top ten in the latest FIBA Rankings.

Nigeria was another standout, rising four places to break into the top 10, now sitting in eighth place. D’Tigress made history by winning two games in the Group Phase, marking their first-ever victories and becoming the first African nation, male or female, to reach the Olympic Quarter-Finals. Their historic journey began with a win over Australia, who later recovered to claim the bronze medal and move up to second place in the rankings.

The USA proudly retains the top spot after clinching gold at the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris 2024, maintaining their dominance with a remarkable 10th title and 8th consecutive win, amassing 883.3 ranking points.

France made a significant leap, moving up four places to secure third place in the rankings. Fueled by the energy of their passionate home fans, they achieved a silver medal after a narrow loss to the USA, matching their best-ever Olympic result.

Germany also made waves, reaching the Quarter-Finals on their Olympic debut with two Group Phase wins. This performance catapulted them up eight places to 13th in the rankings.

Serbia, another Quarter-Finals participant at Paris 2024, also improved their standing, moving from 10th to 9th place. Successes in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournaments also impacted the rankings. Czechia, after winning in Mexico City, climbed two places to 21st, while Hungary’s victory in Kigali moved them up one place to 15th.

Host nation, Rwanda made the biggest jump in the Top 100, soaring 12 places to 62nd after their strong showing in the Pre-Qualifying Tournament. Korea, despite reaching the final in Mexico and gaining points, remained static due to Germany’s simultaneous rise.
