Three days after the Potiskum-Gashua road in Yobe state was cut into two, heavy rainfall that lasted more than 12 hours on Friday has cut off another bridge at Jumbam in the Bursari local government area along Damaturu-Dapchi federal road in Yobe state.

Before now, it was the alternative road that linked six local government areas of northern Yobe and some in eastern Yobe to Damaturu, the state capital.

The sad incident has now forced nine local government areas of Machina- Nguru, Karasuwa, Bade, Jakusko and Yusufari in the northern Yobe, as well as Geidam, Yunusari and Bursari local government areas in the eastern Yobe, to be able to use only canoe to access the state capital or travel through Hadejia in Jigawa state, a distance of over five hundred kilometres.

Already, the cut-off of the two major federal roads in the state capital has crippled economic and farming activities along the northern and eastern parts of the state.
