Hon. Justice Haruna Mshelia of the Borno State High Court has been released by his abductors, while his wife, Magistrate Binta Mshelia, his driver, and police orderly remain in captivity.
A reliable source in Maiduguri confirmed the judge’s release, saying, “Alhamdulillah (We give thanks to God), we have just received the news of Justice Haruna Mshelia’s release. May Allah Almighty protect us all from any form of mishap.”
Justice Mshelia, his wife, driver, and police guard were abducted on Monday, June 24, while traveling from Biu to Maiduguri. The ambush occurred between Borno and Yobe states, where the group was taken captive by armed men. The fate of the remaining captives is still uncertain as security forces continue their efforts to secure their release.
