Senate Confirms Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as Chief Justice of Nigeria

The Senate has officially confirmed Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), following a confirmation hearing on Wednesday. The session, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, concluded with her approval during a Committee of the Whole meeting in Abuja.

Justice Kekere-Ekun becomes the 23rd Chief Justice of the country and the second woman to hold the prestigious position.
Her nomination was submitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday. Justice Kekere-Ekun was accompanied to the Senate chambers by a number of other judicial officers.
