The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled the NFF Monthly Awards, a new initiative to recognize outstanding Nigerian footballers across various leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League.

With the football season in full swing, the awards will celebrate players who deliver exceptional performances each month. The NFF Monthly Awards will feature three main categories: Male & Female Player of the Month, Goal of the Month, and Discovery of the Month.

The NFF has promised a thorough and unbiased nomination process, with an independent organization analyzing player statistics throughout each month. This data-driven approach will ensure that only the most deserving players, whose contributions on the pitch have made a significant impact, are recognized.

Nominations for the inaugural awards will be announced this week followed by a voting period open to both fans and journalists. Fans will have the opportunity to vote through the NFF’s official portal with their votes accounting for 40% of the final decision. The remaining 60% will be determined by journalists and football industry professionals.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed his enthusiasm for the awards, stating: “The NFF Monthly Awards are a key part of our efforts to elevate Nigerian football, not only by recognizing outstanding talent but by engaging with fans and the media in a way that brings the football community closer together.”

Sanusi also noted that the initiative will inspire excellence on the field and strengthen the connection between players and their supporters.

Voting for the first round of awards will start from October 3rd until midnight on October 7th, 2024.
