In a recent incident, two civilians were abducted within a military estate on the outskirts of Abuja, the Nigerian capital.

Bandits infiltrated Phase 2, Army Estate, Kurudu around 10 pm on Thursday, January 18, engaging in a gunfire exchange with estate security personnel.

Despite the resistance, the gunmen managed to flee with the two victims. 

Abuja has experienced a surge in kidnapping cases, prompting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to pledge intensified efforts against kidnappers. 

Acting on presidential directives, measures are being taken to enhance security, including the establishment of a Special Intervention Squad in the Federal Capital Territory by Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun. 

The squad has been deployed to address the escalating incidents, particularly in Bwari, where kidnappers are active. In response to inquiries, FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josphine Adeh directed all questions about the incident to the Army spokesperson.
