Former Moroccan international and Marseille midfielder, Abdelaziz Barrada has passed away at the age of 35.

While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, reports from Moroccan media suggest he may have suffered a heart attack. Barrada, who retired from football in 2021, earned 26 caps for Morocco and represented his country in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, scoring four goals throughout his international career, with his last goal in 2015.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation expressed sorrow over his passing, calling it “a great loss” and extending condolences to Barrada’s family, friends, and the broader football community.

Between 2011 and 2013, Barrada made 64 appearances for Spanish club Getafe and scored two goals during his time at Marseille from 2014 to 2016. Marseille also paid tribute, offering condolences to his family and expressing grief at his untimely passing.

After leaving Marseille, Barrada played for Al-Nasr in the UAE, Turkish side Antalyaspor, and France’s Lusitanos Saint-Maur, though he did not feature in any games before retiring.

France-born Barrada began his professional journey with the reserve team at Paris Saint-Germain, who also paid their respects on social media, offering heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.
