The Confederation of African Football has announced their decision regarding the 2025AFCONQualifuer match between Libya and Nigeria, initially scheduled to take place in Benina, Libya.

CAF has ruled against the Libya Football Federation (LFF) for multiple regulatory breaches, awarding Nigeria a forfeit win in their AFCON qualifier initially scheduled for October 15 in Benghazi.

The CAF Disciplinary Board, led by Ousmane Kane, issued its decision on October 23, citing Libya’s violations of Article 31 of the AFCON Regulations and Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code. Libya was found negligent in meeting security and logistical requirements for Nigeria’s team, resulting in a prolonged detainment and disruption for the Super Eagles.

Consequently, the match was awarded as a 3-0 forfeit victory to Nigeria, and the LFF was fined $50,000, payable within 60 days.

This decision grants Nigeria three points in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, pushing them closer to securing a spot. The Super Eagles now lead their group with 10 points after four games, four points ahead of Benin Republic. Rwanda has five points, while Libya, with just one point, is officially out of contention.
