In a significant breakthrough against banditry, operatives of the Katsina Community Watch Corp (CWC) engaged in a deadly gunfight with bandits linked to the notorious Babaro gang on Thursday. The confrontation unfolded on the outskirts of Gidan Baushe, located in the Burdugau area of Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State.
According to reports, CWC operatives pursued the gang to the area, where they successfully neutralized 16 of its members. While several other bandits managed to escape, many of them reportedly fled with gunshot wounds. This decisive response by the CWC is part of ongoing local security efforts to curb the threat of banditry in Katsina State.
The Babaro gang, known for its violent activities in the region, has posed a persistent challenge to peace and safety in Katsina. The latest success by the CWC highlights the efforts of community-based security forces in bolstering local defenses against such criminal activities.
