Julius Malema attended the inauguration of Botswana’s new President, Duma Boko, on Friday, despite the growing controversy surrounding Dali Mpofu’s exit from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Mpofu, a prominent figure in the party, left to join the newly-formed MK party, sparking tensions within the EFF.

Malema, focusing on the positive event, celebrated Botswana’s democratic progress, marking a personal triumph as the new administration lifted a long-standing travel ban on him. His attendance symbolized strengthening ties between South Africa and Botswana, emphasizing the importance of the celebration over internal party issues.

Speaking to SABC, Malema addressed concerns over the EFF’s internal struggles, assuring supporters that the party remains strong and resilient. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to democracy and the longstanding relationship between the EFF and Botswana’s leadership.

The growing defections from the EFF to the MK Party, including figures like Floyd Shivambu and Mpho Morolane, signal a potential shift in South African political dynamics, with the MK Party gaining traction. However, Malema remains focused on uniting the EFF and reaffirming its position in South Africa’s political landscape.
