Governor Caleb Mutfwang has swiftly enforced a 24-hour curfew in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, citing a worsening security situation.
In an official statement, spokesperson Gyang Bere revealed that the decision stemmed from consultations with security agencies to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Bere noted the necessity for citizens, particularly Mangu residents, to adhere to the sit-at-home order, permitting only those on essential duties to move within the local government area.
The governor expressed concern over persistent attempts to sow insecurity in the state, despite ongoing government efforts to curb the activities of terrorist elements.
Governor Mutfwang extended sympathy to the affected families, pledging the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving lasting peace. He assured that the imposed curfew would be subject to review once the security situation in the locality shows improvement.
