The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed a terrorist food depot and neutralized several fighters during airstrikes on an enclave in Jubillaram, within the Tumbuns area of the Lake Chad Basin.

This was disclosed in a statement by Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information, on Monday in Abuja.

The air component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) executed the operation on November 23, targeting a key location identified through comprehensive intelligence efforts. The site reportedly served as a strategic food storage hub and a hideout for terrorist commanders and fighters linked to recent attacks, including an assault on troops in Kareto on November 16.

“In response, NAF fighter jets carried out a robust air interdiction mission, destroying structures used for food storage and neutralizing terrorists on-site,” Akinboyewa said.

Following the initial strikes, mop-up operations with cannon fire ensured the complete elimination of fleeing fighters.

The success of the operation was attributed to extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted over several days, which confirmed the presence of active terrorist facilities camouflaged under dense vegetation.

“The destruction of the terrorist enclave, including food storage facilities, has severely disrupted their logistical operations, while the neutralization of numerous fighters significantly weakens their capacity for future attacks,” Akinboyewa added.

The NAF reiterated its commitment to sustaining the momentum in the fight against terrorism and protecting the sovereignty of Nigeria.
