The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has refunded over ₦301.56 million to 4,936 pilgrims from Kebbi State who participated in the 2023 Hajj.
Each pilgrim will receive ₦61,080 as compensation for services that were not rendered during the pilgrimage.
This development was announced by the Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Faruku Enabo, during a meeting held to discuss the refund process. According to Enabo, the funds have already been deposited into the agency’s account for disbursement to the beneficiaries.
He stated, “Upon receiving the funds from NAHCON, I informed the governor, who directed me to initiate the refund process to the pilgrims, with the chairmen of the 21 local government areas serving as witnesses and confirming the process.”
Enabo also urged local government chairmen to oversee the disbursement to ensure transparency and ensure all affected pilgrims receive their refunds. Additionally, security agencies will monitor the exercise to maintain order and accountability throughout the process.
The refund aligns with NAHCON’s commitment to ensuring fairness and addressing any lapses experienced by pilgrims during the 2023 Hajj.
