The groundbreaking initiative underscores the role of digital tools in reimagining educational opportunities for young offenders.

The interactive board is designed to revolutionize teaching methods, fostering digital literacy and enhancing learning outcomes for the boys.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Mahfuz Alabidun, Executive Director of IEF, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to reforming inmates through quality education and digital empowerment.

“This digital interactive board is a major stride toward achieving our goal of equipping inmates with skills for a better future,” he said.

Similarly, Mr. Gbolahan Olayomi, CEO of WOWBII Interactive, highlighted the transformative power of technology in education. “Education is a universal right, and every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to tools that prepare them for brighter opportunities,” he stated.

The launch event included a training session for teachers and coordinators on the use and maintenance of the interactive board. The Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Lagos State, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakare Ogunlende, represented by Mrs. Jaiyeola O.A., praised both organizations for their efforts.

He pledged continued government collaboration to support the rehabilitation and transformation of inmates across Lagos.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Awoseyi, Chairperson of WOWBII Interactive, Mrs. Seriki Ibukun, representing the Director of the Agency for Mass Education, and Mr. Iyapo Bashir, Principal of the correctional center, alongside partners, well-wishers, and friends.

In closing, attendees challenged teachers and staff to enhance their teaching methodologies to meet 21st-century standards, despite the unique needs of the students.

With this initiative, IEF and WOWBII Interactive are redefining education in Nigeria’s correctional facilities, offering young inmates a second chance at a brighter future.
