Nigerian Airline, Air Peace has firmly dismissed circulating reports of a purported plane crash involving one of its aircraft in the Western Sahara region, labeling the claims as false, malicious, and misleading.

In a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, Air Peace emphasized that no such incident occurred and condemned the attempt to tarnish its safety record.

“The claim that the crash resulted in fatalities, including the death of a prominent individual, is entirely untrue,” the statement read.

Ndiulo further stressed, “This information is false and malicious. It is a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and tarnish the impeccable safety record of Air Peace. Notably, the individual behind this post has a history of propagating false and alarming reports about fictitious tragic events.”

The airline clarified that the images accompanying the false reports were AI-generated and bore no relation to any real event.

“We strongly urge the public to disregard this malicious disinformation and rely on official channels for accurate updates regarding Air Peace operations,” Ndiulo added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that on December 26, a user on the social media platform X alleged that a crash involving Air Peace had resulted in 50 fatalities. The airline has categorically denied the claims.
