A tragic explosion at an Islamiyyah school in Kuchibiyu Community, Bwari Area Council, approximately 42 kilometers from Abuja city center, claimed the life of one student and injured four others.
The incident, which occurred around noon on Monday, caused widespread panic. According to reports, emergency and security personnel, including the police bomb disposal squad, promptly arrived at the scene. The injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A source revealed that the deceased student, whose identity remains unknown, was reportedly carrying a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated, causing injuries to other students.
“The students involved had recently been admitted to the school and resumed on January 3, 2025,” the source added.
As of the time of this report, neither the school authorities nor the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, have issued an official statement on the incident.
