The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, is set to embark on a two-day official visit to Nigeria starting Thursday, January 9, 2025.
During her stay, Mohammed will engage in a series of high-level meetings with key stakeholders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, senior government officials, and the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Accompanied by Leonardo Simão, Secretary-General’s Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), and Mohamed Malick Fall, UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohammed’s discussions will focus on pressing issues related to regional stability and development.
Additionally, Mohammed will meet with the UN country team in Nigeria to strengthen collaboration and coordination.
Her visit follows her attendance at the presidential inauguration of John Dramani Mahama in Accra, Ghana, where she met with President Mahama and the UN country team to assess the relationship between the United Nations and Ghana.
