Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, celebrated for his integrity in rejecting a $200,000 bribe, has officially embraced Islam in a private ceremony held at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

During the ceremony on Tuesday, Amah adopted the name Muhammad and was warmly welcomed into the faith by the Emir.

Speaking in Hausa, the Emir advised Amah to prioritize gaining knowledge about Islam and to remain steadfast in observing the five pillars of the faith: belief in Allah, the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and Zakat (charitable giving).

The Emir prayed for Allah’s guidance, urging Amah to become an exemplary Muslim while maintaining his well-known integrity and dedication to service.

He also encouraged Amah to respect and care for his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs.

ACP Amah first gained national recognition as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State when he turned down a $200,000 bribe from armed robbery suspects in April 2022.

The suspects had stolen over N300 million in a coordinated robbery led by Ali Zaki, targeting a Bureau De Change operator carrying $750,000 in cash.

In recognition of his rare display of integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.

Additionally, former President Muhammadu Buhari honored him with the prestigious 2022 Public Service Integrity Award after a recommendation from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye.
