Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, is currently in talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
The meeting aims to bolster bilateral relations between the two nations, with a focus on key areas such as trade and investment, health, technology, and infrastructure development.
Tuggar reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to building a resilient relationship with China, referencing President Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, where four Memoranda of Understanding were signed. The agreements are currently at various stages of implementation.
Wang Yi’s visit to Nigeria, which began on January 8, 2025, marks his first African trip this year.
He emphasized China’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria, building on discussions from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit last year.
The meeting is part of Wang Yi’s diplomatic tour across Africa, and Tuggar expressed his eagerness to engage with his Chinese counterpart to further strengthen Nigeria-China relations.
