The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has reaffirmed its commitment to prosecuting the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, over allegations of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.
This comes despite Ganduje’s recent appointment as the board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by President Bola Tinubu.
According to Muhuyi Rimingado, Chairman of the PCACC, the commission will not discontinue the case against Ganduje, who is facing an eight-count charge involving billions of naira.
Rimingado emphasized that the investigation, which began in 2021, will continue, and Ganduje will be prosecuted in person.
Ganduje’s case has been adjourned to February 13, 2025, by the Kano State High Court.
The defendants in the case include Ganduje’s wife, Hafsat Umar, and several others, including Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, and Jibrilla Muhammad.
Rimingado’s stance on the case suggests that Ganduje’s recent appointment will not influence the commission’s decision to pursue the prosecution.
The case has sparked interest, with some groups, like the National Accountability Coalition Against Corruption (NACA), submitting petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanding Ganduje’s arrest and prosecution.
