Kenya’s Alex Matata and Ethiopia’s Ejgayehu Taye emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s races, respectively, at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates.
Matata claimed the men’s title with a time of 59 minutes and 20 seconds, narrowly beating Ethiopia’s Gemechu Dida, who finished second in 59:25. Kenya’s Isaiah Lasoi secured third place with a time of 59:26.

In the women’s race, Ejgayehu Taye, a 10,000m bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, took the top spot with a winning time of 1:05:52. Kenya’s Judy Kemboi finished second in 1:06:34, while Jesca Chelangat, also from Kenya, claimed third place in 1:06:53.
