Nigerian Track and Field Sprinter, Tobi Amusan has broken her African record in the ongoing NB Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.

Amusan who clocked 7.75 seconds achieved the feat on Sunday when she came second behind America’s Tia Jones (7.72 seconds). Bahama’s Devynne Chalton came third with a time of 7.76 seconds.

Amusan’s previous record in the 60-meter hurdle was in January when she emerged first setting a record of 7.77 seconds ahead of American Nia Ali and Ireland’s Sarah Lavin at the Astana Indoor meet in Kazakhstan.

She has previously broken the record of her fellow Nigerian counterpart, Gloria Alozie who set a record of 7.82 seconds in 1999. In 2022, Amusan became the first Nigerian to win a Gold Medal at a World Athletic Championship after winning the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 12.12 seconds in Oregon. She is also the current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles.
