The family of Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has announced his burial plans, scheduling the ceremony for May 3, 2025. Adebanjo passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96.

The funeral proceedings will kick off with a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, on April 30, 2025.

A wake will be held at his country home in Isanya Ogaba, Ijebu Ode, on May 2, 2025, followed by his interment and a reception for guests at his residence.

The final burial service will take place at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, on May 3, 2025. A thanksgiving service will follow on May 4, 2025, at the same church.

Adebanjo was a renowned elder statesman and played a crucial role in Nigeria’s political evolution, particularly as a chieftain of Afenifere and former organising secretary of the Action Group.

The family has expressed their desire for prayers and support as they prepare for his burial.
