Morocco’s state-owned rail operator, ONCF, has awarded a contract worth $2.9 billion to three international companies – France’s Alstom, Spain’s CAF, and South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem – to supply 168 trains of different types.
The acquisition is part of Morocco’s efforts to expand its high-speed and urban rail networks ahead of the 2030 World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
The contract is expected to enhance Morocco’s transportation infrastructure and support its economic growth.
