President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the family, friends, and associates of Prince Doyin Okupe, a seasoned politician, medical doctor, and strategist who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s political landscape for over three decades.

Okupe, a native of Iperu-Remo in Ogun State, served as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan and as Special Assistant on Media to President Olusegun Obasanjo.

His influence extended across multiple political parties, including the National Republican Convention, the United Nigeria Congress Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Accord Party, where he was a national leader.

In 2023, he was at the forefront of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign as its Director-General. Beyond his political contributions, Okupe was deeply involved in the healthcare sector, co-founding the Royal Cross Medical Centre in Lagos and publishing Life Mirror, a newspaper dedicated to health-related issues.

President Tinubu described Okupe as a fearless and articulate advocate for national progress. He acknowledged the wealth of experience and insight Okupe brought to Nigeria’s political and public affairs, emphasizing the deep loss his passing represents.

The President extended his sympathies to the people of Ogun State, particularly the Iperu-Remo community, recognizing the void left by Okupe’s demise. He prayed for the repose of his soul and for strength and comfort for his loved ones during this difficult time.
