Athol Fugard, a celebrated South African playwright, actor, and director, has died at the age of 92.
Fugard, who was born in June 1932 in Middelburg, Eastern Cape, was recognized internationally for his contributions to English theatre in South Africa.
He was known for his thought-provoking works, which often explored the complexities of human relationships and the injustices of apartheid.
Fugard’s notable works include “The Blood Knot,” and he was often compared to American playwright Tennessee Williams.
