Libya’s Mabruk Oil Operations has restarted production at the Mabruk oilfield, which had been shut down for over a decade.

The field resumed production on Sunday, initially producing 5,000 barrels per day, with plans to increase output to 7,000 barrels per day by the end of March and 25,000 barrels per day by July.

The restart of production at the Mabruk oilfield marks a significant step forward for Libya’s oil sector, reflecting improved stability and confidence in the country’s ability to rebuild and boost its national economy.

Libya holds Africa’s largest proven oil reserves but has struggled to maintain consistent output levels due to internal conflicts and infrastructure damage since 2011.
