The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the petition to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, does not meet the constitutional requirements. According to INEC, the petition falls short of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
This development comes after INEC received the petition from constituents seeking Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recall. However, the commission has now deemed the petition inadequate, effectively halting the recall process.
It’s worth noting that the recall process has been marred by controversy, with allegations of manipulation and deception.
The Kogi Central People’s Alliance (KOCEPA) has accused certain political figures of orchestrating a deceptive scheme to manipulate constituents into signing the recall petition.
