A Federal High Court in Abuja has barred parties involved in the lawsuit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and three others from granting press interviews about the case.

Justice Binta Nyako issued the order on Friday, following a complaint by Akpabio’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, that Akpoti-Uduaghan was frequently appearing on television to discuss case-related issues.

The court also prohibited the streaming of the case’s proceedings on social media.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyer, Jibril Okutepa, had prayed the court to grant a consolidated hearing of all pending applications along with the substantive suit, citing the need for expeditious determination of the case.

The lawsuit challenges the Senate’s decision to suspend Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months over alleged misconduct. The court has adjourned the case until May 12 for a hearing.
