On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, a devastating explosion rocked the Abakpa area in Kaduna State, claiming the lives of two children and injuring three others. The explosion occurred near the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, leaving residents in shock and fear.

The victims were identified as a 13-year-old boy named Imam and a six-year-old girl named Nasrin. According to reports, the explosion, whose cause remains unidentified, caused significant panic in the area, as it occurred in close proximity to residential homes.

A resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, recounted the harrowing experience. “I was taking my bath when I heard the explosion. I ran out to see what had happened and saw Imam among the victims. I tried to rush him to the hospital, but he passed away before we could get there,” he said.

While the full details of the incident remain unclear, security agencies have arrived at the scene and are currently investigating the cause of the explosion. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents fearful for their safety.
